- NTT INDYCAR SERIES returns “home” to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
- Round 13 of the championship scheduled as a double-header with NASCAR
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (Thursday, July 28, 2022) – After torrential rain struck the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course when the NTT INDYCAR SERIES did battle here back in May, Devlin DeFrancesco and the Andretti Steinbrenner Autosport squad are aiming for blue skies on the team’s return to “The Brickyard.”
This weekend’s 13th round of the championship forms part of a double-header weekend with NASCAR – both series competing on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
Last time on the 2.439-mile Indianapolis road circuit, DeFrancesco actually out-qualified three former Indy 500 winners, but his promising progress was thwarted by impact with the spinning car of Rinus Veekay. The additional trip to the pits for repairs eventually pushed to two laps off the leader.
The 21-year-old Italian-Canadian enters this weekend after a pair of consecutive strong weekends. He earned his season-high qualifying performance of 12th on his hometown streets of Toronto and backed that up with a sold 15th place finish on the Iowa oval last weekend.

DeFrancesco and Andretti Steinbrenner Autosport are in the midst of four consecutive race weekends and part of seven events staged over nine weeks to finish the 2022 season.
Track action kicks begins on Friday with a single 90-minute practice session at 9:30 AM followed by qualifying at 1:00 PM the same day. The Gallagher Grand Prix will be run on Saturday – the race going green at 12:30 PM and broadcast live on NBC.
DEVLIN DEFRANCESCO
“I’m excited to go back to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. We’re going back with a different setup and new philosophy that we’ve tried as a team that’s worked on one of the cars. So, I’m looking forward to going out to and seeing what that’s like.”
