Devlin DeFrancesco is looking to bounce back tomorrow after a challenging qualifying session today at Portland International Raceway.

The 21-year-old Miami-based Italian-Canadian was confident entering qualifying after two test sessions and official practice. However, the speed he was seeking was absent with the Andretti Steinbrenner Autosport racer only able to qualify eighth fastest for tomorrow’s 15th round of the 2021 Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tire championship.

DeFrancesco will have an opportunity to improve his grid spot for round 16 with an additional qualifying session tomorrow at 11:25 am.

This weekend’s action can be seen on NBC’s Peacock service; on REVTV in Canada; and on’s YouTube channel in all other international markets.

“It was a strange end of the day here. We were looking good after free practice and then going into qualifying we seemed to lose a lot of our speed.

“We need to look into the data tonight and see how we can improve for tomorrow morning’s qualifying.

“For the race tomorrow it will be a challenge coming from P8 but we’re going to go out there and give it our best shot.”
